fix(cli): t3 project remove finds a deleted project by a relative or trailing-slash path - #30562
After a project's folder is deleted, t3 project remove and t3 project rename find it only by the exact stored absolute path. A relative path or a path with a trailing slash reports "No active project found", even though the same spelling works while the folder exists:
cd~/code && rm -rf old-app
t3 project remove old-app # No active project found for 'old-app'.
t3 project remove ~/code/old-app/ # No active project found for '/Users/me/code/old-app/'.
Call path: projectRemoveCommand / projectRenameCommand → findActiveProjectTarget (apps/server/src/cli/project.ts) → WorkspacePaths.normalizeWorkspaceRoot. Normalizing does path.resolve plus home expansion, then stats the directory. When the directory is missing it fails with WorkspaceRootNotExistsError, and the lookup fell back to comparing the raw identifier with the stored paths. Stored paths are always resolved and absolute, so only an exact absolute spelling could match. #9885 added that fallback for the stored path. This change extends it to every spelling that resolves to the stored path.
Change
Every normalizeWorkspaceRoot failure already carries the resolved normalizedWorkspaceRoot. The lookup now matches against that value instead of the raw identifier, so a missing folder resolves the same way an existing one does. Looking up by project ID comes first and is unchanged. Symlink aliases are still not resolved for missing folders, just as before. ProjectNotFoundError now always reports the resolved path.
Scope and approval
This is a small fix to an obvious bug in one CLI lookup function, plus a test. It needs no prior issue. It follows the behaviour #9885 intended ("a stored workspace path still identifies its project after the directory is gone") and covers the relative and trailing-separator spellings that the normal path already accepts. Nothing changes in the UI, the contracts or other clients.
Verification
apps/server/src/cli/project.test.ts runs the existing "removes an empty project by %s after its directory is gone" case through the real CLI parser and SQLite. It now has two more cases: a relative path and a path with a trailing separator.
Before the fix (on upstream/main):
× removes an empty project by relative path after its directory is gone
× removes an empty project by path with a trailing separator after its directory is gone
ProjectNotFoundError: No active project found for '../../../../../../var/folders/.../t3-v2-project-lookup-seReDH/workspace'.
ProjectNotFoundError: No active project found for '/var/folders/.../t3-v2-project-lookup-QLhXeY/workspace/'.
Tests 2 failed | 2 passed | 9 skipped (13)
After the fix:
Test Files 1 passed (1)
Tests 13 passed (13)
Runtime check with the real CLI against a temporary --base-dir: t3 project add <dir>/code/old-app, delete the folder, then from <dir>/code run t3 project remove old-app.
# upstream/main
ERROR: ProjectNotFoundError: No active project found for 'old-app'.
[cause]: WorkspaceRootNotExistsError: Workspace root does not exist: <dir>/code/old-app
# this branch
Removed project 7dbbb981-daf6-435b-8514-1a2828a26d5c (old-app).
Server tsc --noEmit, plus vp lint and vp fmt --check on apps/server/src/cli, pass, and the commit hook (fmt, lint, knip) passed. Not checked: Windows. The change only reuses the path that normalizeWorkspaceRoot already computes there.
Proof: a regression test that fails on main, plus the real t3 CLI run before and after shown above. Reviewed with GPT-6.1 Sol through the Codex CLI.

…trailing-slash path
Once a project's folder is gone, `t3 project remove` and `t3 project rename`
matched the identifier against stored paths verbatim, so `./old-app` or
`/path/old-app/` reported "No active project found" while the same spelling
worked before the folder was deleted. The path check already resolves the
path when it fails, so the lookup now uses that resolved path.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Project remove and rename can now resolve relative or trailing-slash workspace paths even when the directory is gone. Exact project matching and existing mutation safeguards remain unchanged.

The CLI now uses the normalized workspace root when matching projects, including when normalization fails. Tests cover removing an empty project with an unavailable workspace by ID, stored path, relative path, or path with a trailing separator.
Project lookup uses the normalized workspace root for matching and for ProjectNotFoundError, including after normalization fails. Tests cover removal using four project identifier forms.
Removing a project whose directory is missing now matches normalized paths, which is useful. A path containing .. after a symlink can match the wrong missing project, and a forced removal would delete that project's threads. This narrow case should be guarded against before merge.

Verified unchanged head c42609dedad8a5d1f6ac714e225e14793c8cc27e on Linux. Installed and ran separate main (3368dd70f2) and PR dev environments, one server at a time. Used repository Playwright with /usr/bin/google-chrome, real git repositories, and real Codex gpt-6.1-sol turns through the web composer and local provider proxy. No mocks or fixtures.
Main reproduced ProjectNotFoundError for relative and trailing-slash rename/remove after the workspace folder was moved away.
PR rename succeeded for both spellings and updated the open web client without reload. Empty projects were removed successfully using relative paths, trailing slashes, and IDs.
Removal without --force still refused a project containing a real thread. After restoring its folder, that thread completed another real Codex turn. Forced removal with the folder absent removed the project and thread from the client and preserved the unrelated project.
Existing-directory lookup, missing-directory lookup by absolute path and ID, literal home expansion, and unknown/deleted identifiers behaved as expected.
vp test run apps/server/src/cli/project.test.ts passed all 13 tests through blacksmith-check. Current GitHub checks are green. No source changes were needed.
Main: real provider response before reproducing the missing-folder lookup failure.
PR: relative-path rename with the folder absent, with both real provider responses preserved.
Live client updates from relative-path and trailing-slash CLI renames (animated capture).
After forced removal, the unrelated project remains.

Native desktop, iOS/Android, macOS/Windows path handling, remote/tunnel connections, and CLI mutations with the server stopped were not exercised. This pass exercised the CLI's running-server path and the real web/provider integration on Linux.
