detailed animation comparison: these close-up edits of the verified recordings show normal speed first, then 8× slower browser animation playback, then the interrupted-header diagnostic (paused at 40ms before resuming at 1/8 speed). the slowed chapters do not represent normal application timing. captions sit outside the app.

opening snoozed or settled shelves previously faded rows into their final slots while their header was still moving. entering and exiting rows now follow the retained row above them so the shelf moves together. interrupted transitions preserve their remaining travel and opacity, and bulk updates cancel obsolete motion.

verified in the real web client with four completed gpt-6-astra replies, two snoozed threads, and two settled threads. both recordings use the same persisted data and 1280 × 600 viewport, cropped to the sidebar: expand snoozed, expand settled, collapse each, then reverse each transition rapidly. the before capture replaces only the motion module with its exact pre-feature version; the final module is restored afterward.

supplementary motion inspection below slows browser animation playback to 1/8 speed in both versions. these clips show interrupted motion more clearly and do not represent normal application timing.

retargeting a snoozed entry while opening settled now preserves its fade. pausing real browser animations at 40ms reproduced opacity jumping from 0.400792 to 1 before the fix; afterward it stays 0.400792, including the exit clone, and clones are removed when the exit finishes.

a second interrupted-motion check uses an overflowing sidebar at 1280 × 320. opening settled while its header is still moving previously gave new rows zero travel. they now inherit the header's remaining -22.1707px displacement even though its layout position stays at 190px. these diagnostic clips pause real animations at 40ms, scroll the sidebar to expose the rows, then resume at 1/8 speed.

blacksmith: all 19 sidebar motion tests, web typecheck, and targeted lint passed on c22ec5c. the original mp4 recordings played through without playback errors; inline gifs preserve their motion for github. native desktop and mobile were not exercised; this change is confined to the web sidebar motion helper shared by web and desktop.
