refactor: clean up anti-slop lint violations and enforce lint in CI - #430
Stacked on #429 (chore/oxlint-anti-slop-setup). This PR makes the newly enabled OXLint anti-slop rules pass by changing code, not by weakening oxlint.config.ts or adding file-level disables.
Widened unknown and implicit any are replaced with JsonValue / WireInput and named parsers (jsonKind, isJsonObject, unsafeNarrow). Runtime typeof checks go through those classifiers. Type assertions stay only at SDK, JSON, and protocol boundaries, each with a SAFETY: comment. Unused bindings are dropped, optional chaining is guarded, control-character scans use char-code loops instead of control regexes, and Result.gen keeps this via .bind(this) instead of a this alias.
Two real bugs showed up while doing that. Unwrapping server.registerTool with unsafeNarrow dropped this, so the MCP SDK could not read _registeredTools; the call is now bound. Running prototype-poisoned JSON through jsonValueSchema.parse dropped __proto__ as an own key; that fixture still uses a raw parse so the own-property invariant holds.
Justified inline disables (both in src/json-value.ts, JSON contract types):
anti-slop/no-unsafe-dictionary-type on JsonObject — JSON objects are an open string-keyed map by contract.
anti-slop/no-unsafe-dictionary-type on JsonValue — JSON values include nested objects with string keys.
CI now runs pnpm lint next to typecheck and test. Verified locally: pnpm lint 0 errors / 0 warnings, pnpm typecheck pass, pnpm test 548 pass / 4 skip / 0 fail, pnpm build pass, pnpm test:package-install pass.

Improved handling and validation of structured data across agent integrations, workflows, and tool results, with existing error handling and limits preserved.
Logo sizing now converts only finite numeric values to pixel dimensions.
Quality Improvements
Added lint checks to the continuous integration process.
The pull request adds shared JSON wire-value types and validation helpers, then applies them across application code, tests, and QA/replay tooling. It also adds pnpm lint to CI. Most execution flows and test outcomes remain unchanged.
Changes: Shared JSON wire-value cleanup
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Shared JSON types and guards src/json-value.ts, src/unsafe-narrow.ts, src/*
Adds JsonValue, JsonObject, and WireInput types, JSON validators, parsing helpers, and optional-field helpers. These types and helpers are used in workflow, local-agent, artifact, server, UI, and other code paths.
Replaces broad unknown and generic record annotations with shared wire types and guarded access. Existing validation rules and execution flows are generally retained.
Updates QA and replay value handling and test typing. Adds pnpm lint to CI. Other changes are formatting, safety comments, and type inference adjustments.
Waishnav/devspace#429: Introduces the lint rules and command that this PR applies and adds to CI.
Waishnav/devspace#409: Adds workflow code that this PR updates to use shared JSON wire types.
Waishnav/devspace#399: Adds Code Mode contracts that this PR updates with shared JSON types and optional-field helpers.

Add JSON parsers and unsafeNarrow, then begin converting unknown/typeof/spreads so later lint passes can finish the remaining files.

Replace remaining unknown/typeof/assertion noise with JsonValue helpers,
bound SDK calls, and SAFETY comments so oxlint is clean without weakening
rules. Keep __proto__ JSON as a raw parse so own-key tests stay valid.

Hoist the Zod guard schemas as an optional allocation refactor.
UI render and result-processing paths call these helpers, and each call constructs a new Zod schema. Hoisting the schemas avoids those repeated allocations. This does not remove Zod from the browser bundle. No evidence establishes a meaningful user-visible cost, so this is an optional refactor rather than a defect.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
validateJson no longer rejects NaN or ±Infinity.
isJsonNumber(current) is backed by Zod 4 z.number(), which already rejects non-finite values. The !Number.isFinite(current) branch is therefore unreachable. JSON.stringify then writes null for these values.
Workflow arguments, events, agent results, nested workflow results, and the final workflow result pass through this function. A non-finite number is now silently changed to null. Before this change, it failed with WORKFLOW_INVALID_JSON. encodeJson in src/workflow-runner-child.ts has the same defect.

Add a test that return NaN; and return Infinity; reject with WORKFLOW_INVALID_JSON.

z.number() rejects NaN and ±Infinity, so the isJsonNumber guard in the
workflow JSON encoders could never fire and JSON.stringify silently
turned those values into null. Add isNumberValue with typeof-number
semantics for the encoders, jsonKind, and incoming artifact views.
