fix(web): add pull request tasks to the current chat - #30654
the chat actions panel opened a new thread for fix instead of filling the current composer.
change
pass the current composer target through the panel and share the existing pr composer handoff. fix and resolve preserve draft text and stay in the current thread. disable these actions while editing a queued message, and require checking the pr branch before making changes.
verification
reproduced on github/main, then exercised the exact pr head and corrections in linux chrome through the dev web client and real codex gpt-6.1-sol turns. verified repeated fix clicks, draft preservation, queued edit save/cancel, queued turn execution, provider receipt of the fix task, and resolve handoff. blacksmith vp run check:changed github/main passed format, lint, knip, typechecks, 147 tests, and react compiler checks.
native desktop/mobile, other providers, and actual remote fixes or conflict resolution were not exercised. existing pull requests supplied read-only check/conflict data; none were modified.
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — Fix and Resolve now add tasks to the current chat composer rather than preparing a checkout in a new thread. Human confirmation is required for this changed workflow default; tasks still require the user to review and send.
You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more.

Pull-request actions can add task details to an existing composer when a target is available. The target passes through chat and thread details to pull-request rows. Handoff prompts now instruct the agent to verify the pull-request branch before making changes.
The composer target passes to pull-request rows. Targeted actions describe acting in the current thread. Fix and Resolve are blocked when the target is null. Browser tests check that targeted actions update the draft without creating or preparing a thread.
Shared handoff writer and routing apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/usePullRequestActions.ts, apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/PullRequestDetailPanel.tsx
When a target exists and the task is not null, the handoff writes the task to the composer and shows a success toast. A null target stops the handoff. The detail panel uses the shared pull-request task type.
Branch verification in handoff prompts apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/pullRequestDetail.logic.ts, apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/pullRequestDetail.logic.test.ts
Handoff prompts instruct the agent to verify the pull-request branch and switch to it if needed. The test checks for the branch-verification instruction.

Fix and Resolve now add tasks to the current chat. A pending question can hide the added text until it is answered, and the generated prompts only verify the branch by name. Both are minor and bounded, so the change is mergeable with owner awareness.

linux chrome with repo playwright, separate main and pr worktrees, one background dev server at a time, real codex gpt-6.1-sol turns, and projects/threads created through the app. no mocks or seeded data.
main: fix navigated from the existing thread to a new draft. checkout preparation then failed with a github/git.cafe provider mismatch.
pr: fix stayed in the current thread, preserved the draft note, and included the real failing check. a second click added no duplicate. codex received the submitted task and reported the actual branch and check name.
corrected two reproduced regressions in ef62d5cc8004aa2593813236023b931049f27c5b: fix/resolve are disabled during queued edits, and task prompts require checking the branch before changes. queued edit save/cancel and real queued turn execution passed. resolve preserved the draft, stayed in the same thread, and was also disabled during queued edits. fix also passed at 1100px in dark mode.

Merge with main (4e1f0697b0, 06559112e8, claude-opus-5-5)
merged github/main into the head with a merge commit to clear conflicts in usePullRequestActions.ts, PullRequestDetailPanel.tsx, and pullRequestDetail.logic.ts.
main slimmed the handoff preamble to rely on the attached pr chip; its "Work in the prepared checkout" line now reads "Before anything else, verify the checkout matches the pull request's branch, switch to it if it does not" (06559112e8, so single-check fixes verify before reproducing).
blacksmith vp run check:changed github/main passed format, lint, knip, typecheck, 8 test files including ThreadDetailsPrRow.browser.test.tsx, and react compiler. the merged head was not re-exercised in a real dev client.

Handoffs written to an existing composer skip checkout preparation, so
prompts now ask the agent to verify and switch branches instead of
claiming a prepared checkout. The queued-edit reason on Fix and Resolve
is reachable by hover and focus, and threads without a composer fall
back to opening a new thread.

Resolve the exact pull-request checkout before switching branches.
Targeted handoffs write into the current workspace and skip checkout preparation. Although the prompt includes the pull-request URL, the checkout instruction identifies the target by headBranch and does not require resolving the source repository and headSha. A same-named branch can point to a different repository or revision, especially for forked or moved pull requests. Require the agent to resolve the URL to the exact source repository and head revision, then compare the current checkout before editing. Do not use a name-only branch switch.

Not changing this here. The prompt and attached chip carry the pull request URL, which already identifies the source repository, and the agent checks it out from that URL. Adding SHA and fork resolution steps to the prompt is outside this fix's scope.

@maria-rcks Understood. We can leave SHA and fork resolution outside this PR.
The reported tests did not exercise checkout from the PR URL or a fork with a same-named branch. Would you like me to open a follow-up issue for that case?

Cover the existing-thread propagation path.
The new test covers direct ThreadDetailsPrRow behavior only. Add a browser test that mounts an existing ChatView, opens its PR row, and clicks Fix or Resolve. Assert that the current composer draft receives the task and that newThread is not called. Without this path, a regression in ChatView.tsx:3854-3860 can reopen the new-thread behavior while the current test remains green.
