fix: stop guessing Claude forked skill models - #29248
Claude forked skills can still show the parent model in their child footer when Claude has not reported the child model. If no child assistant frame arrives, that wrong label can remain after the skill finishes.
Change
Show “Not reported” while the model is unknown. After the fork settles, recover the model from Claude's subagent transcript in the background, with a bounded retry for delayed transcript writes. This works for completions received during the parent turn or while it is idle, including Claude instances with a custom configuration directory. If the transcript is unavailable, the model stays unreported.
Scope and approval
Issue #29200, filed through triage, reports the fork model and effort mismatch. This PR covers the remaining unknown-model case; #29217 handles model information sent in child stream frames. The contract and client changes carry the unknown state across surfaces, and transcript recovery fills in that same model label when evidence becomes available. Maintainer triage is not recorded in the linked issue or PR.
Verification
The focused adapter regression failed before the idle-completion fix and passes for active and idle completion, missing transcripts, and lookup errors. The ingestor test also checks that the unreported state clears when the actual model matches the parent placeholder.
A pending transcript lookup no longer holds up active or idle task completion. Regression cases also cover delayed writes and the lookup deadline.
A Claude Code 2.1.316 fork transcript returned its recorded model using both the normal configuration and an isolated custom CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR. A live dev-client fork reached its usage limit; its available transcript still supplied the model.
vp run check:changed passed formatting, lint, knip, GraphQL, typechecking for 35 affected packages, 454 tests, and React compiler checks. A focused mobile regression also verifies that opening the detail before its shell arrives retains the unreported state.
The web screenshots use the same isolated child thread; the after fixture marks its model unreported. The Device panel was unavailable because Agent device access was disabled, so native mobile behavior was not exercised; mobile typechecking passed.

After
Reviewed with review-loop: 3 rounds with GPT-6.1 Sol. Reviewer verdict: approved. A later Claude Opus 5.5 review identified the mobile detail fallback and an unnecessary transcript read; both were fixed and checked locally. A CodeRabbit finding about relative CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR was fixed with absolute and relative transcript fixtures; the relative case failed before the fix. CodeRabbit also identified a blocking transcript lookup and a flush race; recovery now runs separately with a bounded retry and guards against stale outcomes.
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Forked Claude skills now show “Not reported” instead of an inferred model or effort until transcript evidence identifies the model. The change is confined to reporting metadata and display, with read-only lookups and a safe fallback when evidence is unavailable.

The change adds modelUnreported to thread state, retrieves forked subagent models from transcripts, and updates thread state when a model is found. Mobile and web views display “Not reported” and suppress the effort label while the model remains unreported.

Thread schemas and shell state carry optional modelUnreported. Projection paths copy the flag when defined, and mobile thread selection preserves it.
The query runner retrieves forked subagent models from transcript messages or through the history worker. The adapter marks eligible subagents as unreported, retries lookups, and applies recovered models when state guards pass. Tests cover reported, missing, delayed, and unavailable models.

Ingestion clears modelUnreported when a non-null model is reported. Mobile and web views show “Not reported” and suppress the effort label while the flag is true.

Explanation
The title "fix: stop guessing Claude forked skill models" is a conventional commit title that names the main change. The changeset shows Claude forked skill child threads now display "Not reported" when the model is unknown, and the adapter recovers the model from the subagent transcript instead of inheriting the parent model. The title is specific and related to the main change. It is short, but it does not name the Not reported label or the transcript recovery, which the title does not need to cover.

Explanation
The description follows the repository template. It has Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification sections. The Problem section states the bug and the trigger. The Change section explains the Not reported label and the transcript recovery with bounded retry. The Scope section links issue #29200 and explains the split from #29217. The Verification section lists focused adapter regressions, a full check run, a Claude Code fork transcript check, and before and after screenshots. It also states what was not checked, which is the native mobile behavior. The description does not include the template's HTML comment instructions, which is expected. Two points are weaker. The Scope section says maintainer triage is not recorded in the linked issue or PR, so the approval requirement may not be met. The Problem section does not name the exact reproduction steps beyond the skill fork case.

Effect.orElseSucceed(() => null) hides every subagentModel failure. Examples are a worker non-zero exit, a decode error, and a getSubagentMessages error. The thread then stays on "Not reported" with no server signal.
The neighbouring lookup in recoverResumedClaudeSubagent logs a warning with the taskId. Do the same here. Keep the log fields bounded (taskId only), so the log does not carry transcript or error text.

Update the subagentModel lookup recovery to log a warning on failure before
returning null, matching the warning behavior in recoverResumedClaudeSubagent.
Include only taskId in the log fields and preserve the existing null fallback.
