feat(server): route Claude, Codex, and OpenCode through a CLIProxyAPI proxy with one switch - #27356
Many people already run CLIProxyAPI next to T3 Code, but routing a provider through it means hand-written environment variables on every instance, on every machine. T3 also can't tell that those instances are proxied, so it probes them as direct logins. That's where the -32600 Limits warnings (#11873) come from, and the proxy's accounts never show up as that provider's.
This adds a proxy connection to each environment and a per-instance switch. It is the first step of the design in #27202.
Settings → Providers → Proxy: URL, API key, and an optional management key. Both keys use the existing secret store and redaction.
Use proxy on Claude, Codex, and OpenCode instances. The registry resolves the environment's proxy into each useProxy entry, so changing the proxy rebuilds exactly those instances. Routing is applied at harness spawn only, never through instance.environment, because that environment also reaches the instance's terminals and usage scans.
Claude: ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL and ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN. An empty ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is set, and ambient Bedrock, Vertex, and OAuth overrides are removed.
Codex: a t3_proxy model provider passed with -c. Its key comes from env_key, so it stays out of argv. Every thread/start and thread/resume now sends modelProvider. Without it, Codex resumes through the provider stored in the rollout and silently bypasses the proxy (verified against the pinned rust-v0.156.1 thread_processor.rs).
OpenCode: the built-in anthropic and openai providers get the proxy's baseURL and key inside OPENCODE_CONFIG_CONTENT. The rest of the user's config content is preserved. While proxied, OpenCode offers only those two providers and runs with its plugins disabled, since a stored ChatGPT login's plugin rewrites requests to chatgpt.com. This needs OpenCode ≥1.14.49 and plain-JSON config content. After spawn, the server's effective config must still point both providers at the proxy, since organization and managed configs merge later. Otherwise the instance is unavailable with a reason. OpenCode 2 reads endpoints from a different config shape, so proxied OpenCode 2 fails closed for now.
No silent fallback. A useProxy instance with no proxy configured is unavailable, with a reason. So is a driver that can't route, T3-managed ChatGPT sign-in, or an external OpenCode server. Running on the instance's own login would spend a different account.
Status and Limits. Proxied instances report "Via proxy" and skip native limit probes. With a management key, the proxy feeds Usage → Limits as a hub automatically, unless a hub already points at the same URL.
Known limitation: a Codex thread started through the proxy needs the proxy turned on to resume, because its rollout records t3_proxy. This is documented in the user guide.
Not in this PR (later steps of #27202): a T3-hosted CLIProxyAPI, adding and removing proxy accounts in the provider view, sharing one environment's proxy with other environments, and mobile editing (mobile doesn't edit provider instances today).
Proof: focused tests, including a Codex replay test that fails without the resume pin. vp run check:changed is green. An isolated dev server ran real Claude Haiku 5.5 and Codex GPT-6 Luna turns through a LAN CLIProxyAPI. The spawned processes carried the proxy routing: the Claude process had ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL=http://192.168.1.250:8317, and Codex had model_provider="t3_proxy" with base_url=".../v1" and env_key="T3_PROXY_KEY".

Adds a per-environment proxy connection (Settings -> Providers -> Proxy) and
a Use proxy switch on Claude, Codex, and OpenCode instances. Routing applies at
harness spawn only; Codex pins thread start and resume to the t3_proxy model
provider. A proxy management key feeds Usage -> Limits automatically.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Adds explicit opt-in proxy routing for Claude, Codex, and OpenCode without changing existing provider defaults. Secret handling and fail-closed checks limit unintended routing or fallback to another account.

- a hand-written provider-proxy usage source keeps its id
- proxied OpenCode skips Go limits, offers only routed providers, and refuses JSONC config
- each proxy key can be cleared on its own

This change adds environment-level proxy settings and per-provider routing for Claude, Codex, and OpenCode. It applies proxy configuration during provider setup, updates proxy-aware status and usage reporting, and adds settings controls and setup instructions.
Adds proxy URL and secret-key settings, shared route helpers, a driver input field, and secret storage mapping. Proxy settings patches require provider-management scope.

Hydration attaches a normalized proxy route to instances with useProxy. Registry reconciliation passes valid routes to drivers and marks instances unavailable when proxy routing is unsupported or no route is configured.

Claude and Codex apply proxy settings to runtime environments. Codex thread operations include the proxy model provider. Tests cover environment changes, launch arguments, and thread resume behavior.
OpenCode applies proxy settings to Anthropic and OpenAI, checks effective routing, and requires version 1.14.49 for proxied servers. Proxy use is rejected for external servers, non-JSON configuration, and OpenCode 2.

Proxy-routed Claude and Codex status checks use proxy authentication metadata and report usage limits as unsupported. Usage-limit handling adds a proxy source when the proxy URL and management key are configured. Proxied OpenCode limits are also reported as unsupported.
Adds editable proxy settings and per-instance routing controls to provider settings. Search includes a Proxy result. User instructions describe setup and provider-specific limitations.

Existing Claude and Codex sessions keep the pre-change proxy route after Use proxy changes.
50-53: Major · Functional Correctness · Heavy lift
Existing Claude and Codex sessions keep the pre-change proxy route after Use proxy changes.
When an instance entry changes, ProviderInstanceRegistry closes the old instance scope and builds a new driver. The session manager does not use that change. For an open providerSessionId, it returns the stored runtime before it looks up the registry. Next turns therefore run through the old adapter, and that adapter keeps the environment it was created with. The result is:
Enabling Use proxy, or changing the proxy route, does not move an existing thread to the proxy.
If the replacement instance is unavailable, the existing thread still runs on the old route. The unavailable reason does not stop it.
Invalidate or close sessions bound to an instance when its entry changes. Alternatively, check the current instance state before dispatching each turn on an existing session. Either change needs a defined resume path for Claude and Codex, so this comment does not include a patch.

Update ProviderInstanceRegistry change handling around entryEqual so sessions
bound to a changed instance are invalidated or closed, and ensure Claude and
Codex sessions have a defined resume path; alternatively, validate the current
instance state before dispatching each turn so unavailable replacements cannot
continue on the stale route.

Not changing this here. The behavior predates this PR and applies to every instance setting, not just Use proxy.
Verified: nothing on the session path subscribes to ProviderInstanceRegistry changes. The only consumers of subscribeChanges are ProviderRegistry snapshots and ProviderAuthService. An open providerSessionId therefore keeps its adapter after any instance edit, whether it's environment variables, binary path, launch args, or this flag. The next session on that instance picks up the rebuilt driver.
Effect on routing: this PR doesn't create a bypass. Turning Use proxy on leaves an already-open session on the login it was already using. Removing the proxy leaves an open session on the old proxy route, not on the instance's own login. New sessions on an unavailable instance are refused.
Proper fix: invalidating sessions when their instance entry changes, with a resume path per provider, cuts across the session manager and every adapter. It belongs in its own PR rather than this opt-in feature.
Running exactly this shape, one hub and three environments, so a few notes from use. The pieces that matter most: a per-instance "use proxy" switch, the hub as that instance's usage source, and no native usage probe for a proxied instance. Those three alone remove #11873 and #23054 without touching the matcher. The 38-file diff is going to be hard to land in one go; the connection settings and the Codex routing could ship first, with Claude and OpenCode following. Glad to test a nightly on three machines.
verified on this linux vm with isolated app state, a real git project created through the web ui, repo playwright, /usr/bin/google-chrome, and the real local cliproxyapi. main ran in a separate worktree first, then was stopped before starting the pr server.
github/main (8b74a69019): real codex gpt-6.1-sol baseline turn completed; provider settings had no proxy configuration.
pr: saved the proxy url ending in /v1/ and secret through settings, enabled codex's use proxy, and completed a real streamed turn. restarted the server and resumed the same native conversation; it remembered maple-27356.
removing the proxy retained use proxy and disabled the instance/model. restoring it recovered availability and a real follow-up returned PROXY-RESTORED-27356.
found and fixed claude saved settings.env.ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL overriding the selected proxy. the same haiku 5.5 prompt failed with 404 before the fix and completed after it with the conflicting saved setting still present. route settings now use a private 0600 file held for the session lifetime, with no proxy key in process arguments. conflicting managed routing or dynamic policy helpers fail closed; unrelated model policy stays allowed.
final real turns returned CODEX-FINAL-27356, CLAUDE-FINAL-27356, and CLAUDE-ROUTE-27356. sanitized live loopback capture observed the actual provider requests:
