Problem

The existing snooze menu has fixed durations and wake times. Users who need early-morning wakes or a seven-day snooze cannot configure those presets.

Change

  • Add five configurable snooze slots in General settings on web, desktop, and mobile. Each slot accepts either 1–168 elapsed hours or an absolute local day/time.
  • Keep slots in their configured order. Weekdays use their next occurrence, including today when the time is still ahead.
  • Keep natural menu labels such as “This afternoon,” “This evening,” “Tomorrow,” “Next week,” and “In 7 days.”
  • Preserve the shipped preset values and contextual visibility until customization; restoring defaults resets those values.
  • Show only the first option when multiple slots resolve to the same wake time.
  • Recompute wake times when a preset is selected, so leaving a menu open does not shorten a relative snooze.

Snooze preferences stay on the current device. Shared contracts and resolution logic keep web, desktop, and mobile behavior consistent.

Scope and approval

This is focused configuration of the existing snooze capability under the configuration-option exception in CONTRIBUTING.md. It adds preset choices without introducing a new workflow, changing product defaults, or changing server settlement rules. The settings, client integration, shared resolver, tests, and user guide all support that configuration.

Verification

  • vp run check:changed upstream/main: format, lint, knip, 32 affected package typechecks, and 322 tests passed.
  • A Chromium regression test confirms that typing 1.5 keeps the saved preset unchanged, a subsequent unrelated time-format change still persists, and valid values such as 168 hours continue to save.
  • Regression tests hold the web context menu open for 30 minutes before selecting default one-hour and customized 168-hour presets, then verify that the full duration starts at selection.
  • Selection helpers reject custom slots newly omitted as duplicates while a menu is open. The future-only fallback keeps default evening presets usable after the one-hour cutoff. Regression coverage checks both behaviors on web and mobile.
  • Time-editing regression tests cover clearing and replacing a time without saving empty drafts, restoring the saved value on blur, and reflecting later saved-value changes.
  • Focused coverage checks validation and settings round trips, fixed preset order, duplicate wake times across relative and absolute slots, next weekday occurrences, expired Today slots, daylight saving transitions, natural labels, unchanged default labels, settings search on web and mobile, list-minute preset resolution, and mobile action recomputation.
  • Used T3’s built-in browser against isolated development state: edited and persisted presets, confirmed 169 hours caps at 168, checked the layout at 390px without horizontal overflow, and verified the actual snooze menu.
  • In the integrated client, confirmed that clearing a time leaves its saved value intact and blur restores the saved time.
  • Native iOS/Android and packaged Electron were not run.

Before customization: unchanged default menu

Default snooze menu with one-hour and three-hour durations and 9 AM wake times

After customization

Customized snooze menu with In 7 days, This evening, Tomorrow at 6 AM, and Next week at 6 AM

Implemented with GPT-6.1-Sol using the Codex harness in T3 Code.

Walkthrough

The change adds five configurable snooze presets to client settings. Web and mobile settings screens edit and restore presets. Web and mobile thread flows resolve available presets and selections using saved preferences.

Changes: Configurable snooze presets

Layer / File(s) Summary
Preference contract and preset resolution
packages/contracts/src/settings.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadSettled.ts, packages/contracts/src/settings.test.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadSnoozed.test.ts
Settings schemas define five-slot preferences, defaults, and validation. The shared resolver handles relative durations and local day-and-time slots. Tests cover labels, duplicate and expired times, and daylight-saving changes.
Web and mobile settings
apps/web/src/components/settings/SnoozeSettings.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/SettingsPanels.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/settings/SnoozeSettingsSection.tsx, apps/mobile/src/persistence/mobile-preferences.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/settings/SettingsProjectGroupingRouteScreen.tsx
Web and mobile settings edit presets and offer restoration. Mobile preference sanitization retains values that pass the schema guard.
Settings search and documentation
apps/web/src/components/settings/settingsSearch.ts, apps/web/src/components/settings/settingsSearch.test.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/settings/settings-search.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/settings/settings-search.test.ts, docs/user/thread-sidebar.md
Search entries and tests cover snooze preset terms. The documentation describes preset scheduling, ordering, device-specific preferences, and restoration.
Web sidebar preset selection
apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.snooze.ts, apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.tsx, apps/web/src/components/sidebar/SidebarThreadRow.tsx, apps/web/src/hooks/useThreadActionMenu.ts, apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.snooze.test.ts, apps/web/src/hooks/useThreadActionMenu.test.ts
The sidebar resolves presets with client preferences and adds weekday labels for scheduled wake dates. Snooze actions resolve selections against current presets and time. Tests cover menu selections and expired options.
Mobile thread-list integration
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/thread-list-v2-items.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/threadListV2.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/threadListV2.test.ts
The thread list passes current preferences to preset generation and menu selection. Tests cover configured presets, selection time, and expired options.

Possibly related issues

  • pingdotgg/t3code#24041: The web snooze settings use draft-and-commit validation for input fields, matching the issue’s reported intermediate numeric edits being saved before editing completes.

Possibly related PRs

  • pingdotgg/t3code#26043: Both changes affect mobile preset generation and selection; configured menus use saved preferences alongside the list-timestamp behavior.
  • pingdotgg/t3code#21760: Mobile snooze options consume the presets whose generation and selection this change updates.
  • pingdotgg/t3code#24945: Web snooze menus consume preset labels and timing data produced by the resolver changed here.

🟠 High settings/SnoozeAndAutoSettleSettings.tsx:119

Entering a fractional hour such as 1.5 stores an invalid snoozePreferences value, causing persistence of the entire client settings snapshot to fail—including later unrelated client-setting changes. step={1} does not round typed values, so reject non-integers here (or normalize them) before calling onChange.

Suggested change
if (value !== null) onChange({ ...slot, hours: value });
if (value !== null && Number.isInteger(value)) onChange({ ...slot, hours: value });

# Number Field

A numeric input element with increment and decrement buttons, and a scrub area.

## Usage guidelines

  * Form controls must have an accessible name: It can be created using a `<label>` element or the `Field` component. See the forms guide.

## Anatomy

Import the component and assemble its parts:

`onValueCommitted``function``—`

Name

`onValueCommitted`

Description

Callback function that is fired when the value is committed. It runs later than `onValueChange`, when:

  * The input is blurred after typing a value.
  * The pointer is released after scrubbing or pressing the increment/decrement buttons.

It runs simultaneously with `onValueChange` when interacting with the keyboard or the mouse wheel.

Warning: This is a generic event not a change event.

Type

      ) => void)

`allowOutOfRange``boolean``false`

Name

`allowOutOfRange`

Description

When true, direct text entry may be outside the `min`/`max` range without clamping, so native range underflow/overflow validation can occur. Step-based interactions (keyboard arrows, buttons, wheel, scrub) still clamp.

Bug report

Current behavior

After upgrading from

`"@base-ui-components/react": "1.0.0-beta.2"`

to

`"@base-ui-components/react": "1.0.0-beta.3"`

the onValueChange callback signature has changed:

    `
    // before
    event?: Event

    // now
    eventDetails: NumberField.Root.ChangeEventDetails
    `

This change itself is fine, however I lost access to the focusout event.

When I increment/decrement the value via the NumberField controls, the onValueChange callback is triggered as expected.

But when I type a value directly into the input and then blur/lose focus (focusout), the onValueChange callback is not triggered anymore.

This breaks the previous behavior where changes were detected after editing the input manually and leaving the field.

Expected behavior

The onValueChange callback should also be triggered when the user enters a value manually and then blurs the input (focusout), not only when incrementing/decrementing.

Reproducible example

A minimal reproduction showing the difference between 1.0.0-beta.2 and 1.0.0-beta.3:
[CodeSandbox/StackBlitz link here if available]

Base UI version

@base-ui-components/react: 1.0.0-beta.3

## API reference

### Root

Groups all parts of the number field and manages its state. Renders a `<div>` element.

Component props table

Prop

Type

Default

`name``string``—`

Name

`name`

Description

Identifies the field when a form is submitted.

Type

    `string | undefined`

`defaultValue``number``—`

Name

`defaultValue`

Description

The uncontrolled value of the field when it’s initially rendered.

To render a controlled number field, use the `value` prop instead.

Type

    `number | undefined`

`value``number | null``—`

Name

`value`

Description

The raw numeric value of the field.

Type

    `number | null | undefined`

`onValueChange``function``—`

Name

`onValueChange`

Description

Callback fired when the number value changes.

The `eventDetails.reason` indicates what triggered the change:

  * `'input-change'` for parseable typing or programmatic text updates
  * `'input-clear'` when the field becomes empty
  * `'input-blur'` when formatting (and clamping, if enabled) occurs on blur
  * `'input-paste'` for paste interactions
  * `'keyboard'` for arrow-key/Home/End stepping (typing digits uses `'input-change'`/`'input-clear'`)
  * `'increment-press'` / `'decrement-press'` for button presses on the increment and decrement controls
  * `'wheel'` for wheel-based scrubbing
  * `'scrub'` for scrub area drags

Type

    `| ((
        value: number | null,
        eventDetails: NumberField.Root.ChangeEventDetails,
      ) => void)
    | undefined`

`onValueCommitted``function``—`

Name

`onValueCommitted`

Description

Callback function that is fired when the value is committed. It runs later than `onValueChange`, when:

  * The input is blurred after typing a value.
  * The pointer is released after scrubbing or pressing the increment/decrement buttons.

It runs simultaneously with `onValueChange` when interacting with the keyboard or the mouse wheel.

Warning: This is a generic event not a change event.

Type

    `| ((
        value: number | null,
        eventDetails: NumberField.Root.CommitEventDetails,
      ) => void)
    | undefined`

`allowOutOfRange``boolean``false`

Name

`allowOutOfRange`

Description

When true, direct text entry may be outside the `min`/`max` range without clamping, so native range underflow/overflow validation can occur. </excerpt>

Validate the hours value before calling onChange.

Base UI fires onValueChange for parseable typing before blur-time formatting and clamping. The handler forwards every non-null value, but SnoozePresetSetting accepts only integer values from 1 through MAX_SNOOZE_HOURS.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Give auto-settle controls their own header.

The auto-settle rows remain inside Organization. The new Snooze section does not group them. Move these rows into a separate SettingsSection titled “Auto-settle” to meet the stated UI objective.

@coderabbitai The two concerns in the merge-risk summary are already addressed on cbace8e:

  • SnoozeTimeInput maintains a local draft, commits only valid times, and restores the saved time on blur. The hours handler accepts only integers from 1 through 168. Re-ran apps/web/src/components/settings/SnoozeSettings.browser.test.tsx: all 3 tests passed, covering clearing/replacing a time, blur restoration, saved-value updates, and persistence after rejected fractional input.
  • Auto-settle renders once in ThreadsSettingsPanel, inside its own SettingsSection titled “Auto-settle”, matching current main. Snooze remains in General; this PR no longer relocates auto-settle controls.

Please update the risk summary to reflect the current implementation and these checks.

@yihchun I checked cbace8ee. The two earlier concerns no longer apply.

Revised merge-risk summary

  • Snooze input validation: SnoozeTimeInput keeps a local draft, commits only valid times, restores the saved time on blur, and reflects saved-value updates. The hours handler accepts only integers within the configured bounds.
  • Settings placement: Auto-settle renders once in ThreadsSettingsPanel, in its own “Auto-settle” section. Snooze remains in General. The earlier concern about relocating auto-settle controls is obsolete.
  • Regression coverage: The three browser tests cover the cases you listed, including persistence after rejected fractional input. You reported that all three passed. I inspected the tests but did not rerun them.
  • Remaining verification: Native iOS/Android and packaged Electron remain untested, as noted in the PR. This is a verification gap, not a confirmed defect.

The input-validation and settings-placement concerns should no longer count as merge risks.

Minor · Recompute relative snooze presets when the user selects them. · useThreadActionMenu.ts:123-167

apps/web/src/hooks/useThreadActionMenu.ts:123-167
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Recompute relative snooze presets when the user selects them.

useThreadActionMenu resolves presets before api.contextMenu.show(...) and later submits the stored preset.snoozedUntil. If the menu remains open, a relative preset such as “In 1 hour” can submit a timestamp based on the earlier opening time. Apply selection-time recomputation in this hook, SidebarThreadRow, and both web context-menu paths in Sidebar.tsx, or centralize that lookup in one shared helper.

Fixed the selection-time finding from this review in 623b155. All four web menu paths now resolve the chosen preset after selection: the thread action hook, the sidebar row menu, and the single-thread and multi-thread sidebar context menus.

The regression tests use the real preset resolver and hold the native menu open for 30 minutes before choosing a default one-hour or configured 168-hour snooze. Both failed on the old behavior and pass with the fix. vp run check:changed upstream/main passed: 32 affected package typechecks and 310 tests.

Minor · Do not use a displayed configured preset as the fallback. · Sidebar.snooze.ts:46-49

apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.snooze.ts:46-49
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Do not use a displayed configured preset as the fallback.

At 05:00, a 09:00 absolute slot and a 3-hour slot display as preset-0 (09:00) and preset-1 (08:00). At 06:00, both resolve to 09:00, so the resolver omits preset-1. The fallback still accepts the displayed preset-1 because 08:00 is future. The web callers then persist 08:00, causing the thread to wake at the obsolete time.

Keep duplicate filtering in the shared resolver. Reject an omitted preset-* action instead of persisting its displayed wake.

Suggested fix
  return displayedPresets.find(
    (candidate) =>

apps/mobile/src/features/threads/threadListV2.ts:107-113
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Reject an omitted current preset instead of reusing its displayed wake.

At 05:00, slot 1 can display 08:00. At 06:00, slot 0 and slot 1 can both resolve to 09:00, so duplicate filtering removes slot 1. The fallback then reuses the displayed 08:00 wake because it is still future. handleSnooze passes that obsolete timestamp to onSnoozeThread.

Keep duplicate filtering and treat an omitted current ID as expired.

Suggested fix
-  const displayedPreset = input.displayedPresets.find(
-    (candidate) => input.event === `snooze:${candidate.id}`,
-  );
-  if (displayedPreset && Date.parse(displayedPreset.snoozedUntil) > input.now.getTime()) {
-    return { _tag: "selected", preset: displayedPreset };
-  }
   return { _tag: "expired" };

Fixed both findings from this review in 8d643cb. Web and mobile reject a configured preset-* selection when its ID is absent from the fresh, deduplicated list. The shared resolver still filters duplicate wake times.

The fallback remains available for future default presets on both clients: removing it entirely on mobile would reintroduce the evening-cutoff failure addressed earlier. Mobile now reports that an option is unavailable rather than claiming its wake time has necessarily passed.

Regression tests reproduced the 05:00 → 06:00 collision on both clients before the fix. They now pass, and the default evening-cutoff tests still pass. vp run check:changed upstream/main passed with 32 affected package typechecks and 322 tests.
