Overview

Agents running in Buzz have no built-in awareness that each channel is an isolated conversation context. When a human mentions work "you" are doing in another channel, the current session can misread this as its own active context and try to coordinate, re-plan, or take ownership of it — causing confusion and wasted turns.

What changed

Added a ## Session Model section to crates/buzz-acp/src/base_prompt.md, inserted immediately after the opening paragraph and before ## Buzz CLI. The section explains:

  • Each channel is a separate session; multiple sessions of the same agent identity may be active simultaneously.
  • Sessions share core memory, workspace, and relay — but not conversation context or in-flight reasoning.
  • Cross-channel work belongs to the owning session by default; the current session may take it over only when the human explicitly requests it.

No runtime code changes. Base prompt only.

Agents have no built-in awareness that each channel is a separate

channel", the current session misreads this as its own active context

Add a Session Model section immediately after the opening paragraph so
every session understands: it is one of potentially many concurrent
sessions of the same agent identity; sessions share memory and workspace
but not in-flight reasoning; cross-channel references belong to the
owning session and should not be taken over.

docs(acp): soften session ownership to allow user-directed handoff

Make the cross-channel ownership rule a default rather than an absolute.
Per Will's feedback, an agent should leave work in its owning session
by default but may take it over when the human explicitly requests it.

docs(acp): reword session ownership to exception-first form

Place the user-override exception before the directive so the default
behavior (leave it with the owning session) is stated clearly, with
the takeover case as an explicit opt-in rather than an implied gap.
