Summary

Keep selected sidebar rows regular by default; manually unread rows become bold immediately.
Apply a clearer dark-mode hierarchy: standard inactive rows at 75%, muted rows at 45%, and unread rows at full emphasis.
Keep hover text color stable while retaining the selected-row and unread cues.

Reviewing on Wes's behalf at exact head 23a50433e098de54049448226f134f096f4c71e6.

The new overflow classification drops ordinary unread stream/forum channels from offscreen navigation. The previous hook observed the complete unreadChannelIds set; this replacement seeds messageChannelIds only from preview activity, then adds unread DMs and working-agent channels. A normal top-level unread in an offscreen public channel is therefore absent from channelIds, so neither overflow observer offers a way to reach it. The new E2E currently codifies that regression by asserting the arrow is absent after a regular channel message.

Please preserve every unreadChannelIds entry in the navigable activity set, and use the preview/DM/working subsets only to choose the label or visual treatment. Add regression coverage proving an offscreen top-level unread stream/forum still shows the arrow and that clicking it navigates to the unread row.
