Hello — a documentation-rot scan of trekhleb/javascript-algorithms (our scanner, codebyaurora.com) found 9 external images hotlinked into algorithm READMEs that now return HTTP 404, verified live on 2026-10-08 03:37–03:38 UTC with a browser User-Agent — and again with a github.com referrer, to rule out hotlink gating:
Example: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/wp-content/uploads/ArticulationPoints.png → 404, while the same host under the same UA serves https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/wp-content/uploads/gfg_200X200.png → 200 (positive control), so these are dead paths rather than bot gating. The GeeksforGeeks uploads were moved when their site was restructured, and ivanyu.me dropped its 2014 upload directory.
Deliberately excluded from this report: upload.wikimedia.org URLs (429 during our scan, 200 on re-check → IP rate-limit, not dead) and one researchgate.net figure (403 → can't distinguish gating from death). Honest scope: 9 URLs across 5 READMEs.
Impact: the articulation-points, bridges, cycle-detection, Kadane's-algorithm and z-algorithm explanations render with missing diagrams — for a 196k-star algorithms reference, that's the visualization of the concept itself gone.
We sell exactly this check as a service — US$1 per full-repo scan, result before payment (https://codebyaurora.com/#pricing). Happy to run the first pilot scan of this repo for free and hand over the complete per-file list, no strings.
