This issue is still not actionable. I do not doubt that you encountered a problem with pnpm, but we need a minimal reproducible example that demonstrates the problem. Provide an easy-to-clone sample project with the fewest possible steps to reproduce the issue; without that, we cannot investigate. Don't tell us you have a project here or there, provide something with bare minimal steps.

Please provide the following:

• What does your compiler-info.json look like?
• After enabling rescript.settings.incrementalTypechecking.debugLogging: true, what did the ReScript Language Server output show?
• What did ./node_modules/@rescript/darwin-arm64/bin/rescript-editor-analysis.exe debug-dump verbose hover ... show?

I expect you to perform these steps and supply the requested information. Simply reporting that something is not working without a minimal reproduction, logs, and clear steps will not result in a fix.

Please provide the requested artifacts so we can continue investigating.

Looks like it's related to pnpm since doing the same with npm i worked correctly. Here's my pnpm version:

Couldn't figure out how to run it.

That's the key issue - there was no actual error message!

Every hover command just returned:

1. Exit code 1 (indicating failure)
2. The help text (the same usage instructions you see when running the command with no arguments)

For example, when I ran:

./node_modules/@rescript/darwin-arm64/bin/rescript-editor-analysis.exe hover src/App.res 11 8 true

Instead of getting hover information OR a useful error message, it just printed the help text and exited with code 1.

This is a silent failure - the command is failing without explaining why. This behavior typically means:

1. The command isn't recognizing the arguments properly
2. The hover functionality isn't implemented/working in this version
3. There's a bug in the argument parsing

Compare this to the definition command which succeeded and returned actual JSON:

The real problem: The hover command in ReScript 12.0.0-rc.4's rescript-editor-analysis.exe is broken - it fails silently without providing any diagnostic information about why it's failing. This makes it impossible to debug further without access to the source code or verbose logging.

Also the path was different form the one you shared, so I had to add pnpm-workspace.yaml with

publicHoistPattern:
  - "@rescript/*"

But it didn't help

I don't think the actual command line interface changed for hover.
But there were some fixes to hovers in the Summer.
Thoughts?

Must be that arg count does not match what's expected? That'd be a match failure in the CLI and produce the help text instead.

I do get the help text for

That being said, maybe the helptext is off and that example is outdated. I didn't check yet what the IDE actually calls.

I think hover is the only problem. There's also no go to definition and autocomplete for Stdlib modules.

I tried out https://github.com/DZakh/test-stdlib in VS Code with extension v1.67.3 and did not have issues with hover or jump to definition. I'm also not experiencing any issues in my own project.

However, I used npm instead of pnpm - so maybe the issue is pnpm?

It worked for me in your pnpm example.
