feat(web): Ctrl+E focuses the sidebar thread list - #30015
There is no direct key to reach the thread list. Keyboard and screen reader users press F6 repeatedly to get to the sidebar.
Change
New command sidebar.focusThreads, default Ctrl+E (Cmd+E on macOS). It works like VS Code's Ctrl+Shift+E, which focuses the Explorer. It opens the sidebar if it is collapsed, then focuses the current thread's row, or the first row if no thread is open. Arrow keys, F2 and Shift+F10 work from there as before.
Why Ctrl+E:
It is unbound.
E matches VS Code's Explorer key.
Ctrl+Shift+E is already the effort picker, and Ctrl+0 (VS Code's "focus side bar") resets zoom.
It is skipped while a terminal has focus, so the shell keeps Ctrl+E. The command is also in the command palette ("Focus Thread List") and in Settings ("Sidebar: Focus Thread List"), and it is forwarded from desktop browser and preview tabs the same way F6 is.
The focus request code also had a bug that this change hit. A request made from a capture-phase window keydown handler was cancelled by the same key that made it. Now only input after the request cancels it.
Scope and approval
Related to #27226 (focus the sidebar search) and builds on the F6 work in #25877. There is no maintainer approval yet.
Verification
workspaceFocus.browser.test.ts adds 2 tests: selector order picks the current row first and falls back to the first row; a request survives the key that made it, which fails on main. vp run check:changed passes.

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — Adds Ctrl+E/Cmd+E to open the sidebar and focus the current or first thread, while preserving terminal use of the shortcut. The new default keyboard binding requires human review.

Walkthrough
Adds sidebar.focusThreads with a default shortcut and command-palette action. The command opens the sidebar and requests focus on a thread row, using ordered selectors to fall back when needed. Workspace focus requests now use timestamps to determine whether later input cancels a pending request.
Workspace focus accepts ordered selectors, tries visible matches until focus succeeds, and cancels pending requests only when input occurs after the request. Browser tests cover deferred focus and selector fallback.
Registers sidebar.focusThreads with the default mod+e shortcut, connects it to sidebar focus and the command palette, and adds its label, forwarding support, host-window focus behavior, and documentation.

On the folder-header fallback from the review summary: this is intended. With no open thread, the command focuses the first row of the list, like VS Code's Explorer focus lands on the tree's first item whether it is a file or a folder. The docs were wrong to say "first thread"; 64db89d changes them to "the first row of the list".

Reproduced on github/main (cefb544af3) in a separate worktree: Ctrl+E after a completed Codex turn leaves focus in the composer. Created a real git project and two threads through the UI, using Codex gpt-6.1-sol. Copied that app-created development state with the server stopped for the head comparison. A fresh Codex turn on the PR also completed with pr provider verified..
On the PR, Ctrl+E focuses the current thread row and opens a collapsed sidebar. Arrow navigation and Enter open another thread. F2 opens rename; Escape cancels it. Shift+F10 opens the thread menu. The command palette action focuses the current row; Ctrl+E while the palette is open preserves its input. During sidebar search, Ctrl+E preserves the query and focuses the combobox, and ArrowDown selects a result. With no current thread on the new-link page, focus falls back to the first row. The current row also receives focus at 600px width and under a dark color-scheme preference. Settings exposes "Sidebar: Focus Thread List".
The terminal retains Ctrl+E. Through its real shell, typed printf terminal-shortcut-ok > /tmp/pr30015-terminal-proof, pressed Ctrl+A, Ctrl+E, Enter, and read terminal-shortcut-ok from the resulting file.

Native Electron guest-preview shortcut forwarding, macOS Cmd+E, Windows, native iOS/Android, Firefox/Safari, screen-reader announcements, remote/relay connections, and custom conditional keybindings were not exercised. The narrow-window check covers the web client only. Usage is a modal and retains its focus trap; it was not used as proof of first-row fallback.
The uploaded MP4 plays and seeks in T3's browser, but GitHub renders its external Markdown image reference as a broken image. GitHub inline video rendering is unverified; the screenshots render correctly.
