fix(mobile): chat folds stay closed until tapped, as on web and desktop - #28072
On mobile, every <details> fold in an agent reply renders open. The summary becomes a bold line and the hidden content always shows. Web and desktop render the same reply with the fold closed. Agents use folds to keep long replies short, so on a phone those replies become several screens of scrolling.
Chat messages go through markdownForNativeRendering, which flattens <details> and <summary> for pull request descriptions (#18126). That choice also applied to chat.
Change
apps/mobile/src/lib/markdownDetails.ts splits top-level <details> blocks out of chat Markdown. It parses the raw message with remark, so tags inside code, or inline in a paragraph, stay Markdown. It decodes the summary text and honours open. A fold whose closing tag has not streamed yet runs to the end of the reply. Messages without <details skip parsing.
ThreadFeed renders each fold as a tappable summary with the existing disclosure chevron. The body renders through the same path, so nested folds work.
decodeHtmlEntities in markdownDocument.ts is exported for reuse.
Pull request descriptions still go through the existing flattening, so their behaviour is unchanged. The fold's open state is local, so a fold can reset when the feed remounts a row that scrolled far off screen.
Scope and approval
Fixes#28059. This is a single bug: chat used the PR-description flattening for folds.
Verification
Added apps/mobile/src/lib/markdownDetails.test.ts, covering split offsets, nested folds and open, folds in code and inline tags, and an unclosed streaming fold.
vp run check:changed passes.
Checked in T3 Code Dev on an Android emulator (API 37) against a local dev server, using a Claude Haiku reply containing a fold:
Before (main)
After: closed
After: tapped
Not checked on iOS. The change is shared React Native code with no platform branch.
Done with Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code (T3 Code).
Chat messages shared the Markdown conversion that flattens <details> for
pull request descriptions, so every fold in an agent reply rendered open.
Split top-level folds out of chat Markdown and render each as a tappable
summary over its body. Pull request descriptions keep the flattening.

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — Mobile chat folds now hide their bodies until tapped unless explicitly marked open, changing the existing default reading experience. A human must confirm that product behavior; two separately gated findings also identify content escaping fold boundaries.

A </details> inside a code example in the fold's HTML block closed the
fold early, so fold tags now come from the code-aware HTML tag scan.
Artifact templates were split before folds, which broke a fold that
contained one, so folds now split first and artifacts inside each part.

Walkthrough
Mobile chat now splits assistant markdown details blocks into segments and renders them as collapsible folds. The parser preserves summaries, open states, and source offsets. Tests cover nested folds, code and inline cases, and unclosed folds.
splitMarkdownDetails separates details blocks from markdown and records summaries, open states, and source offsets. Tests cover nested folds, code and inline cases, and unclosed folds. decodeHtmlEntities and markdownHtmlTags are exported for use by the parser.
The thread feed renders details segments as tappable folds and processes fold bodies recursively. Fold bodies display only while expanded. Other segments render artifact cards or selectable markdown.
Some custom tags may become folds, and links spanning a fold boundary may stop working. These are bounded mobile rendering regressions.

Explanation
The changes meet the coding requirements in [#28059]. splitMarkdownDetails separates chat folds and preserves code and inline tags as Markdown. It handles nested folds, decoded summaries, the open attribute, and incomplete streamed folds. ThreadFeed renders each fold with a tappable summary and recursively renders its body. markdownDetails.test.ts covers the parsing cases. Pull request descriptions retain their existing flattening behavior.

Explanation
The changes stay within [#28059]. ThreadFeed adds chat-fold rendering, markdownDetails.ts adds the parser used for that rendering, and the tests cover the new behavior. Exporting decodeHtmlEntities and markdownHtmlTags supports the parser. No unrelated changes are shown.

A fold whose </details> sat at the end of a paragraph never closed, so the
rest of the reply was hidden. While a fold is open, inline tags in
paragraphs now count toward closing it; folds still open only at block
level. Also covers a <details> inside an HTML comment.

A quoted value such as title="is open" started a fold expanded, so quoted
values are blanked before checking for open. An unfinished fold no longer
loses a trailing </details> that sits inside unfinished code; only a
closing tag the scan matched is removed.

Preserve reference definitions when splitting Markdown folds.
When a reference link appears before a fold and its definition appears after the fold, AssistantMarkdownBlocks passes them to separate SelectableMarkdownText instances. The native parser resolves references only within each markdown input, so [doc][ref] can render as plain text because [ref]: https://example.com is parsed in a different document. Preserve the original document's reference definitions in every fragment that can contain their references.

separate SelectableMarkdownText instances to resolve them. Preserve the existing

Match the complete details tag name.
If a reply contains a standalone <details-panel> tag, \b matches before the hyphen. The scan treats that custom tag as a fold and hides its body behind a disclosure control. Require whitespace, /, or > after details instead. CommonMark permits standalone custom tags as HTML blocks. (spec.commonmark.org)

No changed behavior was verified in a running client. This verification attempt is unverifiable, not a runtime pass.
I inspected the description, diff, commits, discussion, and head c5b7b9cfbd71d8ef223dc68dd6f78b782ae8cdaa. The changes affect the native mobile assistant-message renderer: details folds start closed unless marked open, toggle on tap, and render nested content recursively. The existing CI snapshot reports 29 successful checks, but that does not prove these interactions work.

Not verified
The original bug on main, the fix on Android or iOS, and the real Codex gpt-6.1-sol path remain unverified. So do neighboring behaviors: nested folds, explicit open state, streaming unfinished folds, artifact cards inside folds, code samples, reference links across fold boundaries, and unchanged PR-description rendering. A desktop Chrome session would not exercise the changed React Native ThreadFeed component.
Verification needs an available native device with T3 Code Dev connected to an isolated backend, followed by matching main/head runs using real provider replies. Existing author evidence was not reproduced in this attempt.
