fix(web): links to older settled threads show their title - #26472
Links to older settled threads show "Thread no longer available" even though the threads still exist. The shell snapshot omits those threads, so the chips cannot read their titles.
Both chip entry points load missing thread families through the existing RPC. Once a lookup starts, it stays mounted until the chip unmounts or changes target. This prevents the lookup from removing its own shell row and starting again.
Markdown links resolve the literal ID before a decoded ID. A failed local read still allows legacy links to use a unique match in another environment. Pending reads wait.
A selected remote target stays associated with the current link, so the link can reacquire its family if another component removes the borrowed row. A successful read must confirm its absence before a decoded candidate can replace it. A written-ID candidate can replace a decoded selection. Ambiguous matches stay unresolved.
Scope and approval
This PR is submitted under the focused obvious-bug exception. It restores titles and navigation for existing thread links using an existing family read. The helper and regression tests are necessary to retain those rows and preserve ID precedence and remote resolution.
No maintainer approval is claimed, and #26467 has not received maintainer triage. This change affects web and desktop chips. Archived-thread handling remains unchanged.
Verification
Before: regression cases reproduced the mount/unmount loop, incorrect decoded-ID resolution, unresolved legacy links after failed family reads, and lost remote targets after borrowed rows disappeared.
After: vp run check:changed passes formatting, lint, both unused-code checks, affected typechecks, and 11 tests across two files. Eight browser cases cover both chip entry points, local and remote ID precedence, decoded fallback, failed reads with remote matches, pending retries, borrowed-row removal, ambiguity, and cleanup after link changes.
The tests use controlled family results and actual chip components. They do not verify the complete client against a running server.
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — The change loads older thread families to display titles in links and context chips. Unresolved findings report a chat-disrupting mount/unmount loop and incorrect thread-ID resolution; the lifetime and identity behavior need resolution before shipping.

Walkthrough
Thread link components now request thread-family data when a referenced thread is absent from the local shell list. MarkdownThreadLink checks family lookup results before trying a decoded ID or guessing a remote reference. Browser tests cover lookup outcomes and subscription lifetime.
The new useThreadFamilyIfMissing hook tracks a missing scoped reference, mounts its family while the reference matches, and returns the family result or a pending empty result.
ThreadContextChip requests family data when its shell is absent. MarkdownThreadLink checks written and decoded IDs before remote guessing, excludes the current environment from candidates, and remembers remote selections by source key. Browser tests cover lookup outcomes, subscription lifetime, and environment changes.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
The active direct issue is [#26467]. ThreadContextChip and MarkdownThreadLink now use useThreadFamilyIfMissing for absent shell rows. The hook retains the lookup while the target remains unchanged, so settled family rows can provide the thread title. MarkdownThreadLink preserves literal-ID precedence, waits for pending reads, and supports the documented fallback and ambiguity behavior. The added browser tests cover both chip entry points and the lookup, resolution, and cleanup cases. Archived-thread behavior remains unchanged.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The production changes add the missing-family lookup, connect it to both chip entry points, and update link resolution. These changes directly support [#26467]. The remote fallback and retention logic support resolving the same thread link when local shell data is incomplete. The browser tests verify these behaviors. No unrelated product behavior or excluded work appears in the reviewed change summary.

All seven workflow runs on the current head, db63c4d, stopped with action_required before creating any jobs. The CI run page confirms that it is awaiting approval from a maintainer. This account has read-only access to the upstream repository and cannot approve the runs.
Local verification passes with vp run check:changed, including five browser regression cases and three state tests. Two regression cases fail against the previous implementation for the reported reasons.
A maintainer must approve the fork workflows before GitHub can run CI. Macroscope repeated its permissions refusal and posted no new code findings.

Shells leave older settled threads out, so thread link chips could not
find them and showed "Thread no longer available". The chips now read
the thread's family when it is not in the local shells.
Fixespingdotgg#26467
Keep missing-thread families mounted after their rows appear in the shell. Confirm that a literal thread ID is absent before trying decoded or remote matches.
Let legacy links use a unique match in another environment when a local family read fails. Keep pending reads blocked and preserve literal ID precedence within the source environment.
Remember the selected remote reference for the current link and reacquire its family when another component releases its row. Preserve ambiguity handling and release the retained family when the link changes.
Wait for a successful family read to confirm that a selected remote thread is absent before replacing it. Preserve written-ID precedence when both remote candidates are visible.

main reproduced the missing title after reload. the pr loads the older family, restores its project icon and titles, opens its actual transcript, and retains the links after back. the recent legacy link still opens the correct neighbor; a nonexistent link stays unavailable. a fresh codex turn also completed on the pr.

Problem
Links to older settled threads show "Thread no longer available" even though the threads still exist. The shell snapshot omits those threads, so the chips cannot read their titles.
Fixes #26467.
Change
