ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — Desktop tabs shown on screen now count as visible in agent status and fallback tab selection. The new visibility-reporting effect adds a lint suppression in HostedBrowserWebview.tsx that requires human review. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

DesktopBrowserHostcan emitshown: truebefore the desktop channel emitsattached.DesktopBrowserChannel.setShowncurrently stores that state without checkingattachedTabs.ServerBrowser.isVisiblethen reports the unattached tab as visible in status, tab lists, and live-tab reports. The same stale state can make no-tabIdrequests select that tab.Suggested fix

The server counted a tab as visible only when a client streamed its frames. The desktop draws server tabs in its own webview and never streams them, so preview_status and tabs[].visible said false while the tab was on screen, and tabs picked without a tabId fell back to recency. The desktop renderer now reports when a server-driven webview is on screen (Browser panel or picture-in-picture). Electron's main process sends that over the existing desktop browser channel as a "shown" event, re-sends it when the backend reconnects or the tab attaches again, and clears it when the tab's webview is destroyed. The server counts a shown, attached desktop tab as visible. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

…full The desktop now reports which of its native tabs a window shows (the `shown` signal from pingdotgg#23589: renderer -> desktop host -> server channel), and reclamation skips tabs that are shown or have a streamed viewer. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Closes #23565
What's fixed
Agents saw desktop browser tabs as hidden even while the user was looking at them, because visibility only counted streamed viewers. The desktop now reports when it shows a tab, so preview status and tab selection reflect what is on screen. It clears that state when the tab detaches or the desktop connection stops, and reports it again after reconnecting.
Evidence
Not shown: a packaged AppImage; a newly opened tab can still report hidden until a client draws it, as tracked in #17015.
