fix(antigravity): restore concrete models with ACP 1.4 - #20979
Antigravity ACP 1.4 advertises concrete models separately from its family and thinking-level options. T3 displayed only the family and rejected saved concrete choices, including resumed chats and helper generation.
Use the advertised session models and existing session/set_model operation for this split configuration. Keep legacy config-option selection, preserve the concrete catalog through config updates, and reapply concrete selections when reconfiguring so removing a saved thinking override restores the manifest default. Chat and helpers share the same selection boundary; no client or contract changes.
Rebuilt from @pauljones0's protocol discovery and captured session data in #20979, retaining the contributor's commits and merging current main.
Reduced 12 PR-added cases across four existing test files to three lifecycle cases across three existing files, preserving 111 main tests. All 114 tests in the five affected Antigravity suites pass. All three lifecycle cases fail against main: catalog collapse, saved Low chat failure, and saved Low helper failure.
Real adapter/runtime/native-stdio tests cover fresh and resumed Low chat, default restoration after a thinking override, catalog updates and return to legacy mode, and isolated helper selection before prompt. Existing helper/driver tests retain error, cleanup and legacy coverage.
Server typecheck, lint and formatting for all changed files, and diff check pass. One full independent review round with GPT-6 Sol and Claude Opus 5.5 found no blocking code findings.
Headless Linux web/server with a native ACP peer derived from the captured response: main displays one family and fails a saved Low chat; this head displays High/Medium/Low and completes Low chat. After a server restart, the recorded process sends session/resume → session/set_model(Low) → session/prompt, and the second run completes. A separate helper sends session/new → session/set_model(Low) → session/prompt and persists the generated title. Sanitized native sequence and persisted results.

After — saved Low completes:
The peer is a protocol fixture, not Google's authenticated runtime. Authenticated Google ACP 1.4, real provider transcript persistence, macOS, Windows, Electron desktop, iOS and Android were not verified. The fixture does not implement durable provider transcript history. The thinking-override regression uses saved/agent-supplied options; this change does not add a thinking control to the composer.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a focused ACP 1.4 compatibility fix that restores advertised concrete Antigravity models while preserving the legacy selection path. The affected chat, text-generation, catalog, and config-update behavior is narrowly scoped and backed by targeted regression tests, without changing product defaults or introducing broader infrastructure or schema changes.

Antigravity ACP model selection now uses advertised session models across provider, adapter, and text-generation paths. The change also normalizes ACP responses that omit the current model ID and adds a shared model registry for usage parsing and pricing.

ACP protocol and model selection apps/server/src/provider/acp/AntigravityProtocol.ts, apps/server/src/provider/acp/AntigravityAcpSupport.ts, apps/server/src/provider/acp/*fixture.ts, apps/server/src/provider/acp/*test.ts
The protocol layer adds an empty currentModelId when an ACP response advertises models but omits that field. Selection resolves advertised models and applies them through setSessionModel when session model state is available; otherwise it uses config options. Fixtures and tests cover validation, defaults, resume behavior, and failures.
Provider session model catalog apps/server/src/provider/AntigravityProvider.ts, apps/server/src/provider/AntigravityProvider.test.ts
The provider stores session model state at startup and uses it with config options to build catalogs during updates. Clearing account metadata clears the stored state. Tests cover catalog construction and updates.
Adapter and text-generation wiring packages/provider-acp/src/server/adapter.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/AntigravityAdapterV2.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/AntigravityAdapterV2.test.ts, apps/server/src/textGeneration/AntigravityTextGeneration.ts, apps/server/src/textGeneration/AntigravityTextGeneration.test.ts
The adapter and text-generation path pass session models to model selection. The shared adapter marks resumed sessions and repeated selections as allowing unavailable models. Tests cover fresh and resumed model selections.
Usage model registry and parsing apps/server/src/provider/Drivers/antigravityUsageModels.ts, apps/server/src/provider/Drivers/antigravityUsageReader.ts, apps/server/src/provider/Drivers/antigravityUsageReader.test.ts
A shared registry maps known numeric IDs and model names to rate-model descriptors. Usage parsing uses these mappings and preserves unknown model names instead of stripping thinking-level suffixes indiscriminately. Tests cover normalization and pricing.

The change stays within an existing authenticated session and does not appear to broaden access or privileges. Incomplete coverage of behavior outside the inspected source limits assurance.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The demonstrated exposure is selection within an existing ACP session and catalog metadata shared by its provider instance. The inspected change does not add a path to choose another session, credential, service, or environment. Remote-side authorization and model-specific capabilities remain outside the verified source boundary.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Caller-controlled explicit IDs must match the session-advertised catalog before the new operation executes. Text generation retains independent rejection of permission requests, elicitation, file and terminal access, unknown requests, and tool-call updates; selecting a different advertised ID does not remove those application-side controls.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Selection failures prevent text-generation prompt dispatch, and scoped cancellation and cleanup remain in place. Chat records the selected current ID only after successful model application. Selection and subsequent configuration updates are sequential rather than transactional, so partial remote-session configuration remains possible; the inspected paths did not establish a new cross-session security consequence.

Can this include discovering GPT-OSS models as well?
On Windows, ACP 1.4.1 completed a small arithmetic request with the concrete High selection after model rediscovery through our local compatibility wrapper.
The model options also appeared again.
This check covers High through that wrapper.
It does not test this PR's native selection path at 86d7df9872a53a00fc32e77ed5e877f7b7d60c64.
Saved Low restoration, resumed sessions, helper generation and transcript persistence remain unchecked.
An unwrapped Windows check of this PR would be the useful next test.
Prepared with GPT-6.1-Sol through the Codex harness in T3 Code.
Port the missing fixture and eleven regression cases from 487dc28edafaf42feee1c02b27e51539fba22e95. Keep ACP141's broader production detector, which already handles grouped families without thinking_level and models-only selection; applying GPTOSS's production hunk would duplicate those fixes and lose edge-case hardening.
Retain both lanes' catalog tests and fixture imports where additive test patches overlap. The third-party ACP advertisement is explicitly synthetic; no static selectable model or client identity override is added.
@nozamdavid I dug into the GPT-OSS question properly.
Short version: T3 cannot discover it, and it is not a T3 bug. GPT-OSS is in the account catalog on Google's side. But Google's ACP server only sends third party models to a few approved clients (JetBrains, Zed, Xcode). T3 is not one of them, so the server strips GPT-OSS and Claude out before T3 ever sees the list. I also forced a session/set_model call for gpt-oss-120b-medium and the server rejected it: model not available for the current authentication method. Unless Google opens that gate, there is nothing for T3 to fix here. I did not add a fake static entry and I did not spoof another client's identity.
It is also about to be moot. Google is removing GPT-OSS from Antigravity on November 2, 2026, and no replacement has been announced. Building GPT-OSS specific support on top of that does not make sense to me.
There was a real T3 bug hiding under it though. When the current model has no thinking_level (that is the GPT-OSS and Claude shape), T3 threw away the concrete Gemini models and showed family IDs instead, and models-only advertisements could be displayed but not selected. That is fixed generally in this update, with no GPT-OSS special casing.
What I just pushed to this branch (fast-forward, no history rewritten, head 29ed6ad):
Updated the branch on top of upstream main and kept the original concrete model fix.
Captured a native ACP 1.4.1 advertisement from a real 1.4.1 install. The shape is identical to 1.4.0, so no version specific branch was needed. The capture is in the tests as a fixture.
Hardened the edge cases around partial catalogs, a saved model that was removed or renamed before resume, catalog changes mid session, models with no thinking_level, and models-only advertisements.
One separate commit (780b10b) bounds usage aliases to known model families. Argon 4 and Gemini 3.8 report usage in the same format. The real difference is quota, and I did not touch quota behaviour because I do not have a real Pro or Ultra quota payload to build on. @juliusmarminge this commit stands alone. Drop it or split it into its own PR during your rebuild if you prefer. It does not depend on the lifecycle work.
Verification: 15 suites, 398 tests pass. Server typecheck and lint pass. The check:changed run also passes against the merged main snapshot. The new lifecycle cases fail against upstream production code, as expected.
Still not covered: a native Windows 1.4.1 run with a real account. @ajpemok your wrapper result is still the only Windows evidence. Saved Low restore, helper generation and transcript persistence on Windows remain unchecked.
@juliusmarminge the branch is yours to rebuild as planned. Maintainer edits are on, same as before.

Register the other advertised Flash model families.
The ACP 1.4.1 fixture advertises gemini-3.7-flash, gemini-3.6-flash, and gemini-3.5-flash with concrete thinking-level IDs. This registry includes only gemini-3.8-flash. If a usage record contains gemini-3.7-flash-high and the rate table contains its base-model rate, withRateModel leaves the concrete ID unchanged and priceUsage returns unpriced. Register the three captured families and cover their concrete IDs in the pricing test. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Quick follow up on versions. 1.4.3 is the current release (it is what the ACP registry advertises, and it is installed here). I ran the same native capture against a real 1.4.3 install today, same API key setup path, no wrapper.
The model surface is identical to 1.4.1. Same 14 concrete models, same order, same current model, same config options. The session/new response has zero differences once you mask the session ID and the version string, and the embedded model_selection.py and config_options.py inside the 1.4.3 package are byte for byte identical to 1.4.1. The fix reads what the server advertises and does not parse version numbers, so nothing version specific was needed for 1.4.3 either.
One difference showed up outside model selection: the 1.4.3 run sent extra usage_update session notifications (context usage). That is not part of the advertisement or selection path this PR touches.
I did not add a separate 1.4.3 fixture to the branch. It would be the 1.4.1 capture with a different version string. Happy to add one if you want it, @juliusmarminge.
