…m zero Usage stopped at 90 days. It now offers 180 days and 1 year on web and desktop, and keeps the usage it has read for a year so those periods survive a provider deleting its transcripts. A longer period reaches past what is saved, so each source now reports whether it holds usage from before the window. A provider's line starts where its saved history starts, and days before any history are hatched instead of drawn as zero. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This cross-cutting usage feature changes persistent retention, existing chart semantics, and product-default shortcuts, so it is not a small isolated change. An unresolved medium-severity case also causes a provider with only final-day usage to disappear from the chart despite having a nonzero tooltip value. Not approved because:

…rfaces The pre-merge review found gaps in the 180-day and 1-year periods: - The scan cache kept its v5 filename while its retention grew to a year, so an older server sharing the state directory would prune saved usage for deleted transcripts. v6 writes its own file and migrates v5, whose stateful rows no longer re-parse whole. - Cursor's hasEarlierHistory now follows the account cache's covered range, so covered quiet days read as known zero and a window past the cache's start makes no claim instead of hatching. - History starts are derived per source and only emitted once every source of a provider is covered, instead of from a provider-wide first bucket that hid a later source's gap. - The web page draws no boundary while any source is still answering, including cached-while-refreshing and manual refreshes. - Mobile offers the 180-day and 1-year periods too.
A provider whose saved history begins on the final day is clipped to a zero-width region, hiding a series the tooltip still reports. Draw its endpoint as a marker instead.

A provider with several sources kept the latest source's first day as its boundary, so the chart clipped and hid usage an earlier source had recorded. The earliest first-record day is the boundary again, and a source that cannot tell or has no in-window record still withholds it. Mobile now renders the same history boundary and "Earlier days are unknown, not zero" note as web, so the 180-day and 1-year periods stay reachable there.

OpenCode and Antigravity report no hasEarlierHistory, and the chart folded that absence into the hatch start as index 0. Any provider without a boundary therefore cancelled the hatch for every bounded provider, so the unknown days the feature exists to mark never appeared whenever one of them had usage. Take the hatch start over the providers that do report a boundary.

…hatch Hovering a hatched period replaced every provider row with "No saved history", so a provider that reports no boundary (OpenCode, Antigravity) lost the recorded values it does have. Only a provider's own boundary reads as "No history" now; the hatch itself is unchanged.

Problem
Usage stops at 90 days, so there is no way to see longer-term token use or cost. Discussion #17603 asks for a year of activity.
A longer period also runs into a problem the short ones mostly hide: a day with no saved history is drawn the same as a day with zero usage. Claude Code deletes transcripts after about 30 days and T3 kept what it had read for 92, so over a year most of a Claude line would be a flat zero that really means "unknown".
Change
usage.period.halfYearandusage.period.yearkeybindings (mod+shift+5/6). No new page or view.hasEarlierHistory: whether it holds usage from before the window. It is an optional field, so older clients and servers ignore it and no contract version bump is needed. When no source of a provider has older history, that provider's line starts at its first recorded day, its tooltip row reads "No history" before then, and days before any provider's history are hatched. A source that cannot tell is treated as "may have older history", so nothing is ever marked missing on a guess. These are one change: the periods need the retention to be usable, and the retention makes missing history visible enough that it has to be distinguished.
Scope and approval
There is no maintainer approval for this yet. #17603 has no maintainer reply, and this PR is narrower than what it asks for. I understand this can be closed under Establish the problem and scope first; if the direction is wanted I am happy to rework it to whatever scope is agreed.
Deliberately not included:
