Entries assigned to an earlier run’s fold remain visible when their original run is unfolded. Tests cover continued and fresh sub-agents, failed resumes, and ordinary single-run turns. logic to check each entry’s original run via timelineEntryFoldRunId and skip
hiding entries whose original run is in unfoldedRunIds, even if reassigned to
another group. Add a regression case where run 2 fails and its pre-prompt

…ide an earlier fold

Note Written by Hi! We are cleaning up open PRs, and this one names a harness (Claude Code) but not which model version created it. If this change is really important, we recommend rebuilding the PR with a newer model and noting the model in the PR description. |

Problem
When a later turn continues a sub-agent from an earlier turn, the adapter reassigns that turn item's
runIdto the later run but keeps its position in the earlier turn.deriveTurnFoldsanchors a run's fold on the first entry it sees with thatrunId, so the later run's fold anchors on the continued sub-agent inside the earlier turn. The "Worked for ..." row then renders above the previous answer, and the second prompt's work hides inside the misplaced fold (#15891).Change
deriveTurnFoldsinMessagesTimeline.logic.tsnow computes each run's first response-boundary index and tracks the current prompt'srunId. An entry that sits before its own run's prompt, which is the continued-sub-agent shape, is grouped under the preceding prompt's run. Entries at or after their run's prompt, and runs with no prompt in the timeline, behave as before. A smallresponseBoundaryRunIdhelper sits next totimelineEntryStartsResponse. This is the rule the reporter and the triage comment suggest. Not changed: the continued sub-agent card still shows under the earlier turn, which the triage comment notes this approach leaves in place. Mobile's
deriveThreadFeedRunFoldsgroups byrunIdthe same way and is untouched.Scope and approval
Part of #15891, which is triaged and names
deriveTurnFoldsas the fix area and "fold an entry with the run of the prompt before it" as one option. One function in one file, plus tests.Verification
Windows x64, on
main@9e5229b4with a frozen-lockfile install.MessagesTimeline.logic.test.ts: the issue's row order, plus two controls. On unmodifiedmainsource only the issue test fails, withexpected ['prompt-1','turn-fold:run-2',...] to deeply equal ['prompt-1','turn-fold:run-1',...], the issue's reported order. With the fix, 144 of 144 pass in that file. Together withMessagesTimeline.test.tsx, 2 files and 227 tests pass.tsc --noEmit -p apps/web/tsconfig.json: exit 0, 0 errors. Lint and format check on both files: clean. No before and after screenshots. The behavior is row ordering, covered through
deriveMessagesTimelineRows, but I did not replay a real Codex or Claude session in the app, and the fixture is hand-built.AI disclosure
