   First nightly build missing HTML docs: v27.0.0-nightly20260916bd2b98f549

   Looking at 1f6fe2f...bd2b98f, the first thing to look at is probably the redesign (#62045) cc @nodejs/doc-kit

   So this has slipped through several layers:

   • For all PRs we run https://github.com/nodejs/node/actions/workflows/doc.yml which builds the docs and zips up as a GH artifact. For build, doc: move to redesign #62045, https://github.com/nodejs/node/actions/runs/34852257889 succeeded, but if you download docs.zip the HTML files are missing.
   • The HTML files disappeared in nightlies from mid-September and had not been spotted there. Possibly a combination of those builds not being exposed through the R2 release worker but also less attention being given to those.
   • For releases we have check_assets scripts in https://github.com/nodejs/build/tree/main/ansible/www-standalone/tools/promote but those are only checking for the presence of docs and not the files within. We should add some checks here but this would only flag at release promotion which IMO should be our final check and we need to catch this sort of regression much earlier.

   Opened a PR that adds a test in test/doctool that checks that for each markdown file in doc/api we get HTML and JSON files generated in out/doc/api (except if they are excluded, e.g. quic.md): #66613

   Although that fails on main since we only reverted the redesign on v26.x and the HTML/JSON files are still missing from the nightlies built from main.

   I'm going to reopen this until main is fixed (either a revert of the redesign or a fix).

    I'm going to reopen this until main is fixed (either a revert of the redesign or a fix).

    HTML docs are still missing from the nightlies from main.
