GitHub for Unity v1.1.0 does not initialize in projects. #941

Hey @Rud156 thanks for the bug report. We have been working on how resources are extracted. Seems you've found a bug with that.
Also though, your username on your computer is
Rockin'So. It just seems like a bad idea to have special characters in your username. That's bound to lead to some unpredictable behavior and bugs in a lot of programs.Reacted by Rudrangshu Nandi and Pablo FariasWell that is egg on my face then... Can you upload a log file?
Same here with the initialization.
github-unity.logSame here. Although sometimes I get an initialization failed error and other times I just get a logo that won't stop spinning. Here are my logs:
github-unity.log
github-unity-old.logThrows more 🥚
I having the same issue, although for me it worked the first time I downloaded it and added the asset. So I was able to use it to set up the git repo. Every time after that though, no dice. Fails to initialize.
Hey guys, I have the problem isolated.
I should have a new release for you guys on Monday.
Thanks for hanging in there.Still spins forever. I can actually interact with the tabs and windows behind the spinning wheel though
@StanleyGoldman Still spins. Here is the latest log file if required.
Looks like its trying to find a module calledpackage.jsonWOW!?? 😕Goto
%LOCALAPPDATA%\GitHubUnity\and delete the folder calledoctorun.I ran into this with @SanyaIV and @ThomasAunvik in Discord and we figured it out.
It turns out that I need you to fix this part for me.
The 🐛 created a path that is too long for me to manage to delete with Unity and Mono.Let me know if that works.
Reacted by JaisyKothat fixed it!
nice
Works for me!!! Thanks. I did have to delete the octorun folder myself though.
Yes. Works after deleting the
octorunfolderI am a Mac user, and I think I have the same issue.
I managed to locate the octorun folder here:
/Users//Library/Application Support/GitHubUnity
Should I blow that away as well? I am just asking because the fix that is mentioned is for Windows.
@cspears2002 Try it and see.
I just renamed octorun to octorun_old, and the plugin worked. It created a new octorun directory. Looks like I am good to go.
@cspears2002 Just delete the old
octorunfolder, that contains a huge nested path. Not exactly required@cspears2002 I'm glad you got it working.
@Rud156 Thanks for answering his question.Still the same problem in 2021. But solution by StanleyGoldman helped.
