RFE: API to preload audio/video content

I looked for APIs to preload audio/video content but I didn't find anything. It could be useful to start playing a video or an audio immediately after the user tapped the "Play" button.

I'm referring to caching the audio / video content before any user interaction with the player. I'm thinking to something with a functionality similar to the HTML

Do you think you could add a similiar API, for example to preload (cache) a given amount of seconds or of MB?

From the Javadoc it's unclear what prepare() exactly does:

I tried the following test case, that seems to work only in the Simulator, while it doesn't work on Android (it shows an empty Form) and it crashes on iOS. Is there something wrong in my code?

Prepare is platform specific, you can probably invoke it on a separate thread to make sure everything is ready for playback. Normally platform streaming API's don't give much in terms of "fine control" over playback/streaming.
