Thank you for creating this issue. We will investigate it and provide feedback as soon as we have some updates.Tracked under the epic #1048 (infer Java version/distribution from project files), which groups the related file-based detection requests for consistent design. This issue stays open as the specific sub-request.

When the user specifies the distribution in an ASDF
.tool-versionsfile (e.g.java corretto-1.2.3) then don't require the distribution to be restated explicitly in a redundantdistributionfield in the setup-java GitHub Actions workflow configuration block.Justification:
DRY principle and better integration with ADSF and other modern version managers.
