    This has been implemented:

    (idp) [14:18:33 ansatnuc04 dpctl]$ SYCL_ENABLE_HOST_DEVICE=1 python -c "import dpctl; print(dpctl.__version__); print(dpctl.SyclDevice('host:0'))"
    0.8.0a0+22.gb3dac2f
    <dpctl.SyclDevice [backend_type.host, device_type.host_device,  SYCL host device] at 0x7f347c203170>

    Same with queue:

    (idp) [14:18:48 ansatnuc04 dpctl]$ SYCL_ENABLE_HOST_DEVICE=1 python -c "import dpctl; print(dpctl.__version__); print(dpctl.SyclQueue('host:0'))"
    0.8.0a0+22.gb3dac2f
    <dpctl.SyclQueue at 0x7f959251e550>

    The feature works as long as the proper DPC++ tool chain is installed. Refer getting started guide.
