The fact that locked mode doesn't work for all backends is not clearly explained in the documentation

As a follow-on to #7308, I'm raising a discussion to ask that the documentation should be updated to make it explicit that not all backends are supported in locked mode. Ideally this would be an explicit list of backends known to support it. In my case I found the go backend does not support urls and thus locked mode.
