What do you want to work on?

I’m particularly interested in working on the Kubernetes Operator discussed in #1719. I currently work at Red Hat with the Agent Ops team (same as @rhuss, @jgarciao, @akram, @r3v5, @Schimuneck), where we’re evaluating OpenShell as the sandboxing solution for our platform. One area I’m especially interested in is bringing a K8s-native approach to managing the lifecycle of sandboxed agents. It builds directly on my previous work with Kagenti (https://github.com/kagenti/kagenti-operator), so this is something I’m genuinely excited to contribute upstream.

I think #1719 already raises the right design questions around operator scope and CRDs, and I’d love to help move that effort forward. My plan would be to start with the gateway deployment operator (discussing it extensively through a RFC) and then iterate on the sandbox CRD design with community feedback. I think my experience building operators can help bring established patterns while keeping the implementation aligned with the ecosystem (I’m also a maintainer of Kubebuilder and Operator SDK).

On the CLI UX side, this is a small fix that I can get started on #2115, that adds validation for K8s driver.

Why this change?

We’re evaluating OpenShell as the sandboxing solution for our AI agent platform, and one of the areas we’re interested in is providing a K8s-native way to manage the lifecycle of sandboxed agents.
